Fair Commons Apartments

Common Grounds

Fair Commons was built in 2005 to provide apartment housing for upperclassman students. With three floors and 58,000 square feet of space, including 7,500 square feet of common space, Fair Commons can house 149 residents. It has 36 four-person apartments, 3 two-person apartments, and 3 single rooms. The building was dedicated on October 8th, 2005, in a ceremony honoring the Fairs and Tom and Sch’ree Ward. It is the only apartment building on AU campus to have individual bedrooms for all residents.

Fair Commons was named for Denton and Aline Fair and Phillip and Betty Fair. Denton and Aline Fair planted a church and served as pastors for East Side Church of God in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Denton Fair was also the chief accountant of the Foreign Missions Board of the Church of God. Phillip and Betty Fair led worship ministry at both East Side Church of God and North Anderson Church of God, and Phillip Fair served as executive director of the Mass Communication Board of the Church of God. Phillip also served for 27 years in various assignments at Anderson University, including Director of Advancement Services.
