Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Papers
Phyllis Reynolds Naylor (b. January 4, 1933) is a prolific American author, best known for her young adult novels, including the 1992 Newbery Medal-winning Shiloh and the "Alice" series. Born in Anderson, Indiana, her earliest writings appeared in Church of God publications such as Youth and Vital Christianity.
The archives house a significant collection of Naylor's personal papers, encompassing early periodical writings, personal correspondence—including exchanges with former teachers, her agent, editor, and fellow young adult novelists Avi, Lois Lowry, Jerry Spinelli, and Jane Yolen—and the complete manuscript history of her novel Faith, Hope, and Ivy June.
